Inflammatory pseudotumour of the maxillary sinus: clinicopathological report

The authors describe a case of inflammatory pseudotumour of the maxillary sinus. Though inflammatory in origin, its aggressive clinical pattern and radiological findings resembles malignant disease. Pseudotumours can occur almost anywhere in the body of which very few cases have been reported so far in the maxillofacial region. Our diagnosis in this reported case is well supported by radiological, haematological, histopathological, immunohistochemical and bone marrow findings. The provided conservative treatment was wide local excision, followed by post-operative steroid therapy to gain adequate control over the aggressive nature of the disease.
