Somalia establishes its first petroleum authority following February legisaltion

SOMALIA'S MINISTRY OF Petroleum and Mineral Resources has approved the board members of the Somali Petroleum Authority ("SPA") and appointed Ibrahim Ali Hussein its first Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. The Petroleum Law, ratified in February this year, provided for the establishment of the SPA to be the competent government authority to regulate the development of the country's oil and gas industry.
