World Invests Generously On Renewables As China Ahead In Solar Race

Despite India's solar thrust China appears to be leading the global solar race if recent reports and global trends are anything to go by. More money was invested in new solar energy plants last year than in any other power source, with China leading the race. Globally, a record 98 gigawatts of new solar capacity were installed in 2017, with investments topping $160 billion - an increase of 18 percent compared to the previous year. China alone spent $86.5 billion on solar installations, adding 53 gigawatts of capacity.
