The South Central Oklahoma Oil Province (Scoop) play was discovered in 2012 and followed a year later by the Sooner Trend Anadarko Basin Canadian and Kingfisher Counties (Stack) play. These Oklahoma areas have since proven to be a hot commodity for operators. "While development in the Scoop/Stack has been tempered by volatile commodity prices in recent months, operators like Devon, Continental and Newfield continue to see quarter over quarter production growth. The recent $57 million acquisition by Unit Corp. further illustrates the Anadarko Basin's growth potential moving into the second half of 2017," said Cory Regal, senior upstream analyst at Stratas Advisors.
