Oil from Ship Collision Contaminates the French Riviera

Spilled oil has contaminated beaches along France’s Riviera,closing popular tourist destinations until cleanup can be completed.Bunker fuel oil spilled when two ships collided on Sunday,7 October 2018,off the northern tip of the French island of Corsica.French and Italian coastal authorities jumped into action to try and contain the spill,but were unsuccessful.The accident occurred with relatively calm seas and good visibility.An investigation will be conducted to find out what went wrong.
