FAR to put African blocks to the test

Nearology is driving renewed interest in Africa-focused FAR, with the potential of the junior's acreage in Kenya firmly on investors' radar screens. The attention is largely focused on the billion barrel potential of Mbawa-1 well in L8, a block just to the north of FAR's 30%-owned L9 (Ophir Energy 60% and operator). Success at Mbawa-1 would immediately upgrade the block, which contains part of the Mbawa South structure, and L6 (FAR 60%, Pancontinental Oil & Gas 40%) as both sit on the edge of what is believed to be the Lamu Basin's source kitchen.
