Anniversary of the Department of Chemistry of the Lomonosov Moscow State University

In October 2019, it marks the 90th anniversary since the foundation of the Chemistry Department of MSU. In accordance with Order No. 26 of February 26, 1930 issued by the 1st Moscow University, since October 1, 1929 the Division of Chemistry of the Department of Physics and Mathematics was allocated to the independent Chemistry Department consisting of the following divisions: General and Inorganic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biological Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, and Political Subjects. The date of the formation of the Chemistry Department is considered the date of birth of the Division of Physical Chemistry; since then, Physical Chemistry at the Moscow State University gained official status and, one might say, its proper home.
