摘要

Hydraulic Fracturing (HF) is a longstanding technique emerged in the early 1940s, it was soon adopted to develop oil and gas wells in many countries. Recently, HF gained much focus after its wide use in tight oil and gas fields. Acid jobs in the 1930s may have been the cause behind using HF, as operators noticed that when injecting acid at high pressure, the reservoir acceptability eventually increases. Thus, it is believed that early acid jobs were also indirect fracturing jobs. However, the first recorded direct HF job took place in 1947 in Hugoton gas field, West Kansas, USA.
