The All India Rubber Industries Association-Eastern Region hosted a seminar on 'SME Financing-Prospects and Challenges and Fire Safety,Service and License Renewal'on June 29 at Hotel Big Boss Kolkata.This was against the background that the Indian economy is significantly poised on the growth of small and medium enterprises(SMEs)which contribute up to 40% of industrial production and exports,catering both to the domestic and global markets.Currently,a staggering 95% share of the total industrial units in the country comprises SME units with more than 42.50 million enterprises.And just behind the agricultural sector it engages the major work force of the country.It has a current fixed asset of Rs1,471,912.94 crores and has maintained an average growth rate of more than 10% over the years.Further,with the Indian economy expected to score USD 5 trillion by 2025,SMEs are predicted to play a crucial role.But there are inherent challenges for the growth of the sector.It is ev-Continued on ident from the current scenario that these units,at a discrete level,require adequate financial,technical and safety capacity,among others.In cue with the above,the AIRIA Eastern Region,which has always implored for high-spirited efforts and initiatives that ensure extra mileage for the growth and prosperity of the rubber industry,designed the evening of Friday,June 29 with this seminar.The evening witnessed participation of several dignitaries,including Mr Jag Mohan(IPS),Director General,Fire and Emergency Services,Government of West Bengal; Mr Abhijit Pand-ey.,Deputy Director,Headquarters,Fire and Emergency Services,Government of West Bengal; Ms Rangadas Prabhaba-ti,Deputy General Manager,SIDBI,Kolk-ata,and Mr Raj Kumar,Assistant General Manager,SIDBI,Kolkata.There were 55 guests who represented the rubber industry.
