Rubber articles' exports to rise 10% in FY2018

Triggered by a sharp increase in demand from the United States and the European Union, India's exports of rubber articles are likely to jump by over 10% in the current financial year. Over 6,000 units are involved in the business of manufacturing around 35,000 highly engineered rubber products for applications in railways, defence, submarine, highways and other such sectors. Of this around 100 large units and 3,000 medium-sized units have invested in modernizing their age-old plants to cater to demand from the United States and the European Union. These companies have tied up with global giants, including 3M, Dupont, Sabic and others who have set up their research centres in India to bring modern technology in synthetic rubber to improve efficiency.
