The Natural Rubber Plantation sector in India has been in a crisis for the last four years with the prices of this strategic raw material coming down well below the cost of production. This has not only led to a drop in production of this commodity but also created hardships in the lives of more than a million small growers and other growers who produce this crop. While the commodity prices are at its lowest levels, the NR sector is hit by two most recent economic developments in the country -demonetization and introduction of GST.
