The Singapore-based International Rubber Study Group (IRSG) states that world total rubber consumption is estimated to increase by 1.6% in 2016, marginally above the 1.0% growth in 2015. World total rubber consumption is forecast to increase at an accelerating rate of 3.4% to 28.05 million tonnes in 2017, under the IMF Scenario. During 2017-2025, total global rubber consumption will increase by an average 2.8% per annum. Under the Downside Scenario, world total rubber consumption is forecast to grow by 2.6% to 27.83 million tonnes in 2017, states IRSG's December 2016 edition of World Rubber Industry Outlook (WRIO).
