Squire's Fundamentals of Radiology provides an introduction to radiology for medical students and serves as radiology resource for other health care professionals. One or the textbook's strong points is that i author composed all 670 pages. His writing style is cohesive and engaging, .and his teaching experience is evident in the logical and thoughl-provoking manner in which the textbook is composed. The book is arranged by modality. After the introduc-tion explains the basic concepts of radiology, the typical radiologic appearance or common anatomic structures is presented along with the primary organ systems ,and the imaging procedures used to view them. The chapter dedicated to the abdomen, for example, explains how to evaluate an abdominal radiograph: "Begin with the spine...then study the ribs...the pelvis and upper femur... then search the upper quadrants, flanks, and midabdo-men tor organ masses and calcifications...and finally examine the lower abdomen." Each segment includes explanations, labeled radiographs, and anatomical drawings. In addition, high-quality pictures give readers the opportunity to compare typical anatomy with pathology and identify important radiology study elements.
