摘要

Rates of burnout continue to increase for workers in care-related occupations, such as radiation therapy, who spend prolonged periods with patients giving physical and emotional support. Radiation therapists work in high-intensity environments and must remain empathetic while helping their patients through their treatments. Burnout occurs when chronic work-related stress causes an individual to become emotionally exhausted and disengaged. Symptoms of burnout include: 1. diminished job performance; 2. inability to provide compassionate care; 3. physiological or psychological distress; 4. relationship problems in the workplace and at home.
