Despite recent market uncertainties and the growth of primary aluminum in the U.S.,1 there will be burgeoning opportunities for secondary processors as the appetite for the lightweight metal continues to grow.2 Oxyfuel combustion processes play a significant role in helping processors manage and profit from the expected increase in demand. This article recaps the path of oxyfuel combustion technology, as well as the role it now plays in remelting and how combustion technology is changing to meet emerging needs.
