Not-So-Basic Black

I'VE BEEN CALLED AN ADVENTUROUS GARDENER. I take it as a compliment since I'll try anything unusual or attention-getting. More than 15 years ago, I bought my first midnight-colored plant, 'Dark Star' coleus, and I incorporated it into pots and in thegarden. I was hooked. Not just on that moody coleus, but on^any plant with black foliage or flowers. After I had spent several years integrating black plants into my landscape, curious gardeners who toured my yard questioned the unique plants saying, "They sure are gloomy but appealing."
