摘要

Evolutions of (1 + 2)-dimensional optical beams in local Kerr nonlinear media with linear anisotropy are discussed both analytically and numerically. The suppression of collapse of both circular and elliptic beams is predicated by variational solutions, and confirmed by numerical simulations. If the anisotropic parameter is large enough, the beam width can become even larger during nonlinear propagations when the optical power is larger than the critical power.
