ICCT Sounds Warning on SST Noise and Air Pollution

A new working paper from the International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) concludes that the widespread use of supersonic transport (SST) aircraft would have "substantial" noise and air pollution impacts. The ICCT modeled landing and take-off (LTO) noise, en-route sonic boom, and carbon dioxide emissions of an unconstrained network of 2,000 new commercial SST aircraft operating on 500 routes in 2035.
