We synthesize a series of new (Ti, Zr)(4)Ni2N0.5-1.0 subnitrides with Fe3W3C-type structure (space group Fd -3m, Z = 16, and the Pearson symbol cF112 ). Their hydrogen-sorption properties are investigated (both from the gas phase and electrochemically). It is shown that the alloys may absorb up to 2.5 wt.% hydrogen. The maximum discharge capacitance is detected for Ti4Ni2N0.5. Three new hydrides (Ti4Ni2N0.5H6.9 , Ti2Zr2Ni2NH7.4 , and TiZr3Ni2N0.5H11) are synthesized and their structures are investigated. These nitrides preserve the structure of the original matrix with the volume of the lattice increased up to 18%.
