Gas bulls must have been as despondent by Friday as the bears were elated after a sudden 14.2c advance by the June futures contract to $2,134 per million Btu-the first settlement with a $2 handle since Jan.17-was again beaten back. The prompt month slid into the weekend at $1,823,a loss of 6.7c for the week. But in this game of”two steps forward, one step back,”bulls still have the upper hand.Even a down week has left the contract up 27c from the 25-year prompt-month low on Apr.2,and a tightening supply/demand balance is sure to lift prices this summer and into 2021.
