One of the Permian Basin's top independent producers has challenged its peers to take efforts to reduce gas flaring more seriously as some data show the problem is getting worse,not better.Parsley Energy CEO Matt Gallagher told a crowd at the recent Nape Expo in Houston that the flaring issue has been”a black eye to our industry”and that companies must stop ignoring it.Critics of the industry point to rampant greenhouse gas emissions from the flaring and venting of gas produced in association with oil drilling,which feeds public perception of the industry as a”top polluter.”
