Demand, Price Will Drive US-China LNG Trade

China has reopened its ports to US LNG cargoes after a long hiatus, giving a small boost to an otherwise beleaguered US export sector. But whether the trend continues depends largely on global gas demand and price recovery. The four US caroges currently headed to China are needed as that country's gas demand has started to recover after many cities lifted lockdowns designed to halt the spread of corona virus. That process was eased in February when the US and China implemented the first phase of a deal designed to ease the ongoing trade and tariff war.
