2019 FUEL ETHANOL PRODUCTION FELL FOR SECOND YEAR IN A ROW GERMANY

The Bioethanol Industry Association (BDBe) reported declines in fuel and industrial ethanol production for calendar year 2019. Total bioethanol output fell by 13.5% y/y to 651,565 tonnes, around 825 mln litres. Around 560,872 tonnes were made from grains, down 5.3%, equivalent to 2.4 mln tonnes of cereals or 5.4% of the 2019 harvest. Only 90,693 tonnes were made from sugary feedstock were used, down 43.7%, on better economics for sugar.
