Discovery of Thorium/Uranium Mineralization In the Wollastonite Skarn near Pitcairn, St. Lawrence Co., New York

The first author spent part of April 15, 2016 collecting minerals at the classic wollastonite skarn locality off Rose Road near Pitcairn, NY. He noticed a curious patch of mineralization next to an area of massive, bright-blue fluorapatite on the working face (Figs. 1 and 2 on page 2). Initial analyses with SEM/EDS revealed the presence of thorium and uranium and resulted in the more detailed study reported here.
