In situ crystallization of 2,2-dimethoxypropane and dimethyldimethoxysilane: hunting for Group 14 isomorphism

Two closely related 2,2-dimethoxypropane and dimethyl-dimethoxysilane liquids were in situ crystallized, and their crystal structures were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Qualitative and quantitative differences in the crystal packing are discussed.
