Thermocomp RC, a carbon-fiber reinforced nylon 6/6 composite, and Thermocomp QF, a glass-fiber reinforced nylon 6/10 composite from LNP engineering Plastics, Exton, Pa., serve as the exoskeletal structure for the Utah Arm 2. This prosthetic arm operates on electromyographic signals, which are electrical signals produced when muscles are flexed. This controls the prostheses with far less effort and more grace and dexterity than any previously available above-elbow prosthesis.
