GERMANY: 400 WATTS FEMTOSECOND LASER

Femtosecond lasers (fs-lasers) are predominantly used in ultraprecision processing applications. Despite their usability in electronics, medicine, solar technology, aerospace, and many others, wider adoption of femtosecond lasers can be constrained because of the huge cost associated with their complex optical modules and the average power output, which is normally less than 100 W. However, recently, a team of researchers at the Germany-based Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology (ILT) has been instrumental in developing a femtosecond laser system based on InnoSlab technology, capable of delivering more than 400 W, output power.
