Effect of different organic substrates on rooting of one-bud hardwood grapevine cuttings

In 2-year trials, Skarb Panonii cuttings treated with a rooting hormone (Ukorzeniacz A, containing IBA) in March were placed in 9 different substrates containing municipal waste compost, conifer bark, peat, sand, fresh or old conifer sawdust, and hardwood sawdust in different combinations. The cuttings struck in a warm frame were assessed for rooting after 5 weeks. The best rooting was obtained on a substrate containing 8-year-old sawdust + sand or sand mixed with lowland peat.
