Historic Fruit Trees of Coloma

On October 7, 2018, my husband Alex and I went on a day hike with friends at the Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park in Coloma. This is a popular destination, especially among people interested in the history of the California Gold Rush. We took the Monument Trail up and came down the Monroe Ridge Trail. At the bottom of the trail I spotted three old Asian persimmon trees with fruit standing next to a service building. Wild Himalayan blackberry vines limited access, and no persimmons were ripe, so we decided to check later, and then revisited on October 27.
