Muddy sandstone. Powder River Basin: rejuvenation of an old play with horizontal drilling

The Powder River Basin (PRB) is a large asymmetric basin located in northeast Wyoming, and southeast Montana (Figure 1). The basin dimensions are approximately 120 miles east to west, 200 miles north to south. The basin formed during the Laramide orogeny similar to other Rocky Mountain Basins. Several structural uplifts bound the PRB: Miles City Arch to the northeast; Black Hills Uplift to the east; Hartville Uplift to the south; the Bighorn Uplift, Casper Arch, and the northern part of the Laramie Mountains to the west.
