Architects are increasingly incorporating art as a foundational design element rather than adding it on after construction. According to Creative Edge, which provides a waterjet technology that can cut through flooring to create intricate designs, nowhere is this as important as children's hospitals, where playful artwork and designs can reduce anxiety and stress, mitigate the need for pain medication and contribute to the healing process."Spaces that are colorful, fun and uplifting help children heal faster," said James O'Neil, principal at the interior design firm Inventure Design, which specializes in the design of children's hospitals and cancer centers. The firm was subcontracted by FKP Architects to provide the interior design work for Childern's Hospital of Oragne County (CHOC).
