Coatings production in China rose by 10.5% year-on-year to 9.6 M tonnes in 1H 2017, after a stable growth of the Chinese economy. The growth was driven by quick development in real estate, infrastructure, home appliances and home furniture. In 1H 2017, home furniture and home appliances posted a double-digit growth in sales, fuelled by both export and domestic markets. The Chinese government has prohibited the development of new solvent-based coatings capacities, which are below 10,000 tonnes/y, in Shanghai, Tianjin, Guangzhou and Fujian. Total sales of insulation panels and architectural coatings producer Asia Cuanon rose by 30.53% year-on-year in 3Q 2017.
