The feed and livestock industry are facing challenges with the need to meet the global growing demand for animal products and reduce pressure on the environment and resources at the same time. Industry stakeholders need to communicate how they addressthese challenges in a robust and transparent way.A Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is the compilation and evaluation of the inputs, outputs and the potential environmental impacts of a product throughout its life cycle. An LCA is composed of 4 steps (Figure 1): goal and scope definition; inventory analysis; impact assessment; and interpretation.
