Tractors For Africa:CARGILL, EX-CARGILL WORKERS PREPARE FARM EQUIPMENT FOR FARMER COOPERATIVES

On a cold Saturday afternoon in mid-January 2018, in a diesel engine warehouse in the northern Minneapolis, MN suburbs, a group of Cargill retirees, current Cargill employees, and their high school-aged kids worked on painting and refurbishing a 14-foot John Deere disk.That disk and a rebuilt Farmall 460 tractor soon were to be loaded, along with 10 tons of fertilizer, into a 40-foot container for a multi-month voyage to a subsistence farmer cooperative in Fada N' Gourma, Burkina Faso. This group of Cargill volunteerswas preparing to make its third shipment of rebuilt farm tractors and farm equipment for an organization called Tractors For Africa (TFA).
