THIS ARTICLE WILL outline practices that can be used to address issues that arise during the project delivery phase and (where possible) avoid them developing into major disputes. CAUSES OF DISPUTES One of the principal causes of disputes is poor contract administration. Before a project commences, a significant amount of time and effort is spent drafting and negotiating the project contract. However once the project begins, the focus shifts to delivery of the project and administration of the contract itself can sometimes be forgotten. This can have serious ramifications. For example, non-compliance with a notice provision can be fatal to a contractor's claim.
