The shift from solvent-borne coatings to water-borne offerings has been in the making for the entire 21st Century,and the transition marches on,if not evenly,across market segments.Architectural coatings have seen the biggest conversion.Wa-ter-borne broad wall architec-tural coatings represent more than 80% of all coatings in this category,and the solvent-borne portions that remain are transitioning to water-borne versions quickly,as raw material innovations such as alkyd emulsions and dispersions allow more formulation choice in complying with VOC regulations.
