Importers Beware: Import Inaccuracies Just Got Personal

Not since the revolution spawned by the U.S. Customs Modernization Act of 1993 (Pub.L. 103-182, 107 Stat. 2057, December 8, 1993 — clubbed the "Mod Act") has a change in import ground rules been so unprecedented and onerous. Then, the burden of compliance radically shifted to importers from that of U.S. Customs (now CBP). This time, the burden has radically shifted to include any or all of the people introducing the imports into U.S. Commerce — in addition to the importer.
