ATCALS program funding, including both RDT&E and procurement, will average $58.5 million per year in the 2019 through 2028 timespan, but funding will fluctuate significantly as individual program goals are targeted. The focus of recent RDT&E has been on Mode 5/ADS B/IFF implementation and Deployable Radar Approach Control (D-RAPCON). Procurement is currently focused on the Deployable Instrument Landing System and D-RAPCON. The U.S. Air Force's Air Traffic Control, Approach, and Landing Systems (ATCALS, also referred to in the singular Air Traffic Control, Approach, and Landing System) program researches, develops, and manages new air traffic control, communications, surveillance, positioning, and precision approach landing systems.
