WTI crude falls to lowest since Feb 2002

Crude futures fell on 30 March, with benchmark Nymex WTI settling at a new low since February 2002, as the US extended demand-cutting virus containment eforts while supplies rise further. Nymex WTI May light sweet crude futures eased by $1.42/bl to $20.09/bl. The contract fell as low as $19.92/bl on 29 March, down by 7.4pc from its close on 27 March. The contract had frst settled at its lowest since February 2002 on 18 March. Ice May Brent fell by $2.17/bl to $22.76/bl. The Brent-WTI spread narrowed to $2.67/bl.
