China has increased its scrap metal import quotas for 2020 in the ninth tranche of such quotas issued for this year, after de- laying the planned reclassifcation of high-grade copper, brass and aluminium scrap metal as raw material. The new tranche is the largest issued since April. A total of 176,746t of copper scrap and 209,660t of aluminium scrap has been added to this year’s allowances. This dwarfs the previ- ous batch of quotas issued last month for just 1,570t of copper scrap and 5,840t of aluminium scrap.
