Hydro’s downstream earnings fell in 2Q

Norwegian aluminium producer Norsk Hydro saw earnings among its downstream units sink in the second quarter owing to the Covid-19 pandemic, although markets started to recover at the end of the period. “The Covid-19 situation continues to cause signifcant market uncertainty, with global GDP and industrial production falling during the quarter, leading to a reduction in aluminium demand,” the company said. “Although uncertainty remains high, several countries, and especially China, are showing signs of recovery towards the end of the second quarter.”
