Brazil’s supreme court is preparing to hear a challenge to state-controlled Petrobras’ plan to sell half of its refning capacity. A hearing of the full court was set to begin today after its president, Luiz Fux, unexpectedly pulled the case from virtual voting on 21 September. Three of the 11 justices had voted in favour of subjecting the refnery divestment plan to congres- sional approval, as petitioned by leading politicians at the behest of oil unions that oppose the sales. The remaining eight had not voted.
