Coke supply tightens on coking economics

Narrow crude spreads, widespread maintenance, strong asphalt prices and a host of logistical difculties are keeping petroleum coke spot supply low in the US Gulf. A substantial turnaround season for US refners ahead of 2020 low-sulphur fuel regulations initially contributed to tighter spot coke supply so far this year, with several refners being sold out of spot cargoes for the last few months.
