Canadian crude by rail tops 200,000 b/d in June

Canadian crude exports by rail surged to a new record of 205,000 b/d in June, up by 3pc from May, amid strained pipeline capacity. It was the fourth consecutive gain, and June's rail exports were up by 53pc from February, when growth in rail movements appeared to be stagnating, according to the National Energy Board (NEB). Canadian producers continue to look for alternatives in a congested market and crude by rail has nearly doubled since June 2017.
