Mexico refneries struggle after turnarounds

Recent turnarounds at two of Mexico’s six refneries have failed to increase product output, even as the country plans an even bigger refnery work program next year. Disappointing results from projects at both the 190,000 b/d Madero and 285,000 b/d Minatitlan refneries may serve as a warning to state-run Pemex and the administration of presi- dent-elect Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, which says it wants to complete additional turnarounds at all six of the country’s refneries next year.
