Russian seaborne coal exports from terminals in the far east of the country climbed to a fresh high last month, as Russian high-grade coal became more competitive for delivery into northeast Asia. Russian far eastern ports loaded 8.4mn t last month, up by just over 13pc or 977,800t on the year. Exports edged up from 8.3mn t in May, while January-April exports averaged 7mn t/ month. Sakhalin Island's loadings rose most sharply - by 572,300t from a year earlier to 1.5mn t in June. The terminal has exported over 1mn t for two consecutive months, after averaging just 174,800 t/month in January-April.
