Drummond’s Colombian coal exports decline

Colombian coal producer Drummond’s exports fell by 10.2pc from a year earlier, to 2.61mn t, in August. Shipments have fallen on a year-over-year basis in six of the last eight months, primarily because of slack demand from European utilities using the Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp transhipment hub. The company shipped just 251,983t of coal to the Netherlands in the frst eight months of this year, all of it in January and February. It had exported 2.93mn t to the hub in January-August last year.
