ConocoPhillips sues for payment from Venezuela

ConocoPhillips is suing Venezuela in a US court for the immedi- ate payment of $2bn related to the decade-old expropriation of its assets in the country. An arbitration panel of the Paris-based International Cham- ber of Commerce (ICC) ruled on 25 April that Caracas must pay ConocoPhillips the amount in recompense for the expropria- tions. The US company fled a suit in the southern district of New York the next day seeking the immediate enforcement of the award.
