Marathon cuts sour crude processing

Marathon Petroleum will give sour crudes their smallest second-quarter share of crude capacity in fve years as the industry adapts to another surge of light, sweet crude. The US independent refner said it planned to process 700,000 b/d of sour crude, out of a total 1.1mn b/d of US Gulf coast crude, in the quarter. That represents an 18pc drop in sour crude processing compared with the same quarter last year.
