Nippon Steel sees minor US tarif impact

Japanese steelmaker Nippon Steel expects US tarifs on steel imports to have only a minor efect on its shipments, with sales to the US accounting for only around 2pc of overall ship- ments. The company ships around 700,000t/yr of steel to the US, mainly high-value added products such as rails and seamless pipes, as well as steel for further processing at Nippon’s US facilities, which have a downstream capacity of 7.1mn t/yr.
